Betty L. (Bower) Ferber, 85, of Berlin Heights, passed away on Friday, December 20. She was born
on February 16, 1934, in Portsmouth, Ohio, and grew up on North Bass Island, where her father
worked in the vineyards. Before marriage she lived in Sandusky and worked at Philco Radio
Company. She has been a resident of Berlin Heights since her marriage in 1955, and most recently a
member of the Kingston Residence community.
She was a member of the Berlin Heights Baptist Church, the Berlin Twp. Farmers and Hunters
Conservation Club, and the Huron Eagles, and was a member of the Fire Debs while her husband
was on the Berlin Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. She enjoyed reading novels and cookbooks, and
doing crochet and other crafts. She especially loved baking, and basked in her family’s appreciation
of her wonderful pies, sweet rolls, and delicious Christmas cookies. But her biggest enjoyment was
when her family gathered together for visits and holidays. She will be deeply missed by one and all.
She is survived by daughters, Susan Ferber (Julie Schroeder), of Jefferson City, MO; Lynn (Gene)
Davis, of Berlin Heights; son, Mark (Cathy) Ferber, of Fountain Inn, SC; three grandchildren, Michael
and Johnathan Ferber, and Kaitlyn (Dominic) Sberna; a brother, William “Bill” Bower of
Wheelersburg, OH; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Nelson R. Ferber; her parents,
George E. and Carrie (Burris) Bower; a son, Robert Nelson Ferber; and brothers, John, George
Ernest “Ernie,” Ronald, and David Bower.
Friends may call on Monday, December 23, from noon until 1p.m. at the Berlin Heights Baptist
Church, 85 East Main Street, Berlin Heights, with service to immediately follow. Burial will be at
Riverside Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home in
Berlin Heights. Memorial contributions may be made to the Berlin Heights Baptist Church.
