Burnice "Bernie" C. Carty, 87, of Berlin Heights, OH passed away August 5, 2021. He was born June 4, 1934 in Wise, VA. Burnice enlisted in the United States Army, serving his country proudly. During his time in the Army, he received a Sharpshooter badge and a Good Conduct medal. While serving in Europe, he was a technician in the guided missile program. He later worked as a machinist for the former General Motors/New Departure in Sandusky, retiring after 42 years. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and fishing, and he loved to work with his tools. He was active in Bible studies in church, and attended Huron United Methodist Church for many years. Later in his life, he was an active member of Lakeview Methodist Church in Berlin Heights. Above all, his greatest joy was his family. He loved to spend time with his son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.
Burnice was the sweetest man. He loved his family very much. He was selfless, and he would drop everything to go help someone else. He was respectful and had a great sense of humor. He had a deep desire for his family to grow in faith and love God. He was patient and gracious, and had a wonderful disposition. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy of Christian faith for his family.
Burnice is survived by his son, Clark (Darleen) Carty, of Brunswick; grandchildren, Ethan and Victoria Carty, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Burnice was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Ella (Eiford) Carty; parents, Willard and Nanie (Large) Carty; and brothers, Oscar, Herley, Hubert, and Buford Carty.
Friends may call from 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 14, 2021 until time of services at 12:00 PM at Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights. Pastor Dick Kretchmar will officiate. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
