Betty Mingus

November 30, 1936 — December 14, 2015

Betty "Boop" (Bickley) Mingus, 79, from Huron, passed away Monday afternoon December 14, 2015 at Stein Hospice Care Facility. Betty was born November 30, 1936 in Sandusky to Bill and Norma (Riblet) Bickley. Heaven gained an angel when they received Betty. Betty began studying nursing after graduating from high school but family took priority. She was active in PTA, Scouting, Sunday School Teaching, Signing for the Deaf, Huron High School Class of 1954 Reunions, Special Needs Teacher's Aide, Bookkeeping and Accounting, and making numerous 1st Place awarded Halloween costumes for her children. She grew up in a family that loved music so she and her siblings often sang together. She loved dancing and singing at many Bluegrass events and Festivals and loved her Bluegrass friends. She and George hosted many reunions at their home, Hickory Haven. She is survived by her husband George of 59 years. Children; Mike (Karen), Kim (Don) Luczkowski, Julie (Dick) Koegle, Cris (Diane), Scott (Vickie). She had 15 Grandchildren and 10-3/4 Great Grandchildren. Brothers and sisters; Herman (Mary) Spencer, James "Snooky" Spencer, Bill (Yvonne) Spencer, Marilyn Mingus, Patsy (Jim) Hoover, Brad (June) Bickley, Anita (Dave) Hemmer, Bobby "Red" Bickley and Sister-in-law Jane Bickley (Laddie). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Laddie, son Wayne and daughter Jill Huston. The family would like to recognize her wonderful caregivers, Gloria Twaddle, Mandy Reinhardt and Krystyna Brown as well as Dr. Brendan Bauer, the special people and medical professionals at Stein Hospice and 5 Stars Adult Care Center. Services will be private. Burial will be at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
