Charles E. McKenzie, 78, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020 in Millersburg, Ohio. Charles was born on May 3, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Charles F. and Helen (Sulitis) McKenzie. While growing up on a farm in Wakeman, Ohio, he spent quality time with his parents. Charlie helped his dad with farming while always enjoying his mom's delicious meals. In 1960, Charles graduated from the former Wakeman High School in Wakeman, Ohio. After graduation, he was in a very bad car accident. Once recovered, he joined the U.S. Air Force. After being in the Air Force for many years, serving both stateside and overseas, Charles received an Honorable Discharge. During his life, Charles worked at various civilian jobs both in Ohio and out of state.
From the mid-1980's, Charlie resided at Vantage Place in Cleveland, Ohio, until 2006 when he became a resident at Sycamore Run Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Millersburg, Ohio. Many thanks to those at Vantage Place, Sycamore Run, and especially attorney James E. Spitz, of Cleveland, Ohio, who helped Charlie through the years.
In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his brother, Bruce A. McKenzie, Sr.
Charles is survived by his sister, Sandra McKenzie, of Sandusky, Bruce's wife, Mindy McKenzie, of North Lewisburg, Ohio, and their sons, Bruce A. McKenzie, Jr., of Canal Winchester, Ohio and Arthur McKenzie of North Lewisburg, Ohio, along with Art's extended family. Other survivors include cousins and friends.
Due to Covid-19, there will be a private graveside burial in the Wakeman Cemetery.
Services will be in care of Morman Funeral Home in Wakeman, Ohio.
