Douglas Reer

Douglas A. Reer, Sr., 76, of Collins, OH passed away April 22, 2021. He was born June 4, 1944 in Norwalk, OH and attended Berlin Heights High School. He enlisted in the United States Army and served his country proudly in the early 1960's. After being honorably discharged, he went on to work as an operator (out of Local 18) for Great Lakes Construction. In his free time, he loved to tinker around in his workshop, refinishing antiques and working on equipment. He loved to fish and cook his catch, camp, and garden, and can his vegetables and give then away. He adored his dogs, past and present. Sparky was always there and checked on him to make sure he got up every day.

Douglas was a a very caring a giving person. He enjoyed playing cards with his brother, and calling his sisters and making sure they were alright. He loved to make people laugh. He always had great stories to tell. He loved to camp and to fish, and he made lots of friends with whom he kept in contact. He will be greatly missed.

Douglas is survived by his sons, Douglas (Michelle) Reer, and Don (Dedee) Reer; grandson, Eric Reer; three great-grandchildren; brother, Fred Reer; sisters, Debra (John) Bell, Elizabeth Houghtlen, and Janis Russ; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Douglas was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Christine (Eslinger) Reer; sister-in-law, Diane Reer; and brother-in-law, Fred Houghtlen.

No services will be held at this time.
