Eleanor Elizabeth (Grimmer) Matus, age 101 of Wakeman, OH passed away Jan. 12, 2021. She was born June 20, 1919 in
Norwalk, OH and graduated from St. Paul’s Catholic High School in 1937. Some of her many jobs were a housewife, Kipton Hatchery, Green Circle Growers, and retired from Oberlin College after many years.
Eleanor “Skip” was fun-loving, kind, and generous. She loved to joke around with her friends and family. She was a world traveler and an amazing woman with a beautiful smile. Each person who was lucky enough to meet her was touched in some way. She loved babies and would fawn over her friends’ & family’s little ones.
Eleanor is survived by her children, Deborah (Peter Yaworsky) Davidson, of Oberlin, Dr. Paul (Linda) Matus, Craig (Deb) Matus, Jean (Michael) Paskert; grandchildren, Janine (John) Troilo, Eric (Amy) vonHofen, Nicholas (Katelin) vonHofen, Kurt vonHofen, Lauren Matus, Alison (Dan) Schiraldi, Andrea (Josh) Fox, Michael Cousins, Andrew Cousins, Will (Amy) Cousins, Ryan (Hanna) Cousins; 10 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law, Grace Matus and Theresa Wukie; and brother-in-law, Bob Matus, Sr.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Matus; daughters, Paula Cousins and Marsha vonHofen; parents, Leo and Agnes (Blinzley) Grimmer; sisters, Rita Heston, Katherine Barnes, Anna Fritz, and Edna Jarrett; and brother, Harold Grimmer.
Friends may call for visitation on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. A Private Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church in Wakeman and a burial will follow at St. Mary’s cemetery.
