Gene J. Krupp, 79, of Wakeman, OH passed away January 1, 2021. He was born May 13, 1941 in Lorain, OH and graduated from Amherst High School in 1959. He received a Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green in 1965, where he was a part of the ROTC program and ran track, as well as cross country. He joined the Army in 1965 and honorably served, receiving a Bronze Star. After discharge, he worked as a substitute teacher for local schools, and then went on to work as a Safety Engineer for Poly-One, from where he retired after over 30 years.
Gene was the Number One Buckeye Fan in the world, and he loved Cleveland sports. He was a huge sports fan and knew all of the stats. He was the president of Eagles for nine years. Gene was straight to the point and had a very dry sense of humor. He would often say, "Get in line or shape up!" Gene loved bowling, and even managed to bowl a 300. He loved to garden, and mowed at the cemetery for years. He was an avid softball and football player in his younger years, and continued to play as he got older.
Gene is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jackie (Holmes) Krupp of Wakeman, OH, children, Kim (Trent) McCullough, Jodi (Todd) Eungard, Eric (Rebecca) Krupp; grandchildren, Chelsey (Jay) Overy, Taylor McCullough, Ethan Eungard, Emma Eungard, Kierstin Krupp; four great-grandchildren; brother, Jim (Patty) Krupp; sister-in-law, Sandy Krupp; brother-in-law, Harry (Kathy) Holmes; numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Naomi (Kothe) Krupp and brother, Jack Krupp.
Public graveside services with military honors will be held at Wakeman Cemetery on January 9, 2021 at 11:00am. Per Gene's request, please wear your favorite Ohio State apparel and jeans. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
