Ivan Smith

Ivan V. Smith, 98, of Shinrock, passed away on March 13, 2015 surrounded by his family. He was born November 16, 1916 in Shinrock and has lived there his entire life. He maintained the family farm while holding positions with the New York Central Railroad, NASA-Plumbrook, and retired from the Shinrock Elevator as Equipment Manager. He was one of the founding members of the Berlin Conservation Club, and served as a Berlin Township Trustee, and was a member of Woodmen of the World. He is survived by two daughters Sharon (Bruce) Warner, and Denise (Ken) Smith, both of Berlin Township, his granddaughter Denise "Nikki" (Darryl) Brundage, also of Berlin Township and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Eleanor (Hoffman), his parents Frank and Miriam (Williams) Smith, brothers Earl and Frank, sisters, Olive Steinmetz, Mildred Smith, and Miriam Knittle. Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights, where services will be held on Monday at 11:00 am. The Rev. Margaret D'Anieri will be officiating. Burial will follow at Peaks Cemetery on Darrow Road. Online condolences may be left at mormanfuneralhome.com.
