Jurlene Hall

January 17, 1936 — January 1, 2022

Mrs. Jurlene Hall, 85, of Collins, OH passed away January 1, 2022. She was born January 17, 1936 in Grethel, Kentucky. Jurlene moved to Ohio over 60 years ago and spent much of her life making a home for her family and caring for her children. She loved bowling in her younger years. Jurlene loved to sew and quilt; any person who was loved by Jurlene got a handmade quilt from her. She loved to garden and particularly enjoyed raising fruit trees. She would bake pies and other treats with the fruit from her garden. Jurlene really enjoyed going to flea markets and collecting antique glass. She liked to travel with her siblings; they used to go out West to visit national parks.

Jurlene always wanted to make sure that her children had a better life than she did, but at the same time raised each of her children to be independent. She raised self-sufficient children who know how to take care of themselves. With Jurlene, her family always came first. Jurlene never said a bad word about anyone. She was gentle, loving, and generous. When she picked her fruit and canned, she always made extra so that she could give to anyone who needed it. Her door was always open, all the neighbor kids called her "mom."

Jurlene is survived by her daughter, Patricia (Chuck) Swanson, of Lorain; sons, Terry (Cheryl) Hall and Dwayne (Ida) Hall, of Wakeman; grandchildren, Joey (Brandy), Michael (Sarah), Melissa (Scott), Michelle (Don), Jennifer (Scott), Jessica, Megan (Brad), and DJ (Sharise); 15 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles (Vernice) Akers; sister, Janice Murphy; and many nieces and nephews.

Jurlene was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Vernel Hall; parents, Berry and Lexie (Hall) Akers; brothers, Hershel Akers, Buddy Akers, and Donnie Akers; and sister, Shirley Hamilton; and a very good companion and friend, Joe Hair (Grandpa Joe).
