Robert Jackson

Robert Jackson, 70, of Wakeman, passed away on March 28, 2016 at Stein Hospice in Sandusky. He was born on June 27, 1945 in Shawnee, OK and has lived in the Wakeman area for most of his life. He was a 1964 graduate of Western Reserve High School. He served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict. He retired from Ford in 2006 after 39 years, mostly at the Lorain Assembly Plant. He was an active member of the Wakeman community. He joined the Wakeman American Legion and the Wakeman Fire Department in 1972 and served on both until his death, he was a dual member of the Wakeman and Norwalk Eagles. He served multiple years as trustee, Inside Guard, and currently District 9 Treasurer and member of the Redcap Charity Fund. He was a member of the St. Marys Catholic Church in Wakeman and was their Maintenance Man. He was a devoted family man who lived to help people and the community. He is survived by his wife of 48 years JoAnne (Fisher), three daughters, Shari, of Kissimmee, FL, Cindi, of Wellington, and KariAnne Jackson, of Wakeman, seven grandchildren, Charles and James Hammond, Nathan, Joy, and Kaleb Jackson, Zoey Senghas, and Hope Jackson, his sister Linda McGlathery, of Westlake, three nieces and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Linnis (Wallis) Jackson, and a son Robert Jackson Jr. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday at 10:30 at St. Marys Church on Main Street in Wakeman. Father Doug Taylor will be presiding. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
