Ross Baird

November 30, 1935 — October 14, 2021

Ross D. Baird, 85, of Wakeman, Ohio passed away October 14, 2021. He was born November 30, 1935 in Eureka, Kansas and graduated from Independence High School. After graduation, he went on to join the United States Marine Corps, serving two years in 1956-1958, even being deployed to Japan. After being honorably discharged, he worked as a radio announcer for several radio stations in the area. He also worked at Gilford Instruments in Oberlin, and then at Morman Funeral Home. Ross was a member of the Gibson Lodge #301 F&AM and a charter member of the Wakeman Eagles Aerie #4354, where he served as a chaplain for many years. He was also a member of the Wakeman American Legion Post. Ross enjoyed collecting stamps, gardening, and most of all, he loved being with his wife, Barb.

Ross was very vibrant. He was a lover. He was also a perfectionist and wasn't happy until things were just so. He will be missed by all those who knew him.

Ross is survived by his wife of 41 years, Barbara (Bailey) Baird; children, Susan (Sanjay) Joshi, Lisa Baird, and David Baird; and step-children, Susan Spurlock, Ralph Kelsey, Debbie Prante, and David Kelsey.

Ross was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Lucille (Erickson) Baird.

Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, October 18, 2021 at Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Masonic services will be held at 7:30 Monday evening at the funeral home. Services will be held on October 19, 2021 11:00 AM at Morman Funeral Home. Pastor Jay Johns will be officiating. Burial will follow at Wakeman Cemetery.
