Victor Barson

Victor P. Barson, 89, of Wakeman, died on Friday January 8, 2016 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Sandusky. He was born on July 29, 1926 in Pittsfield Twp. He was a 1946 graduate of Wellington High School. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Asian Pacific Medal, United Nations Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was a member of the Norwalk VFW, Huron County DAV, Oberlin American Legion, and the Wakeman Eagles. Vic loved playing softball and played for Dauch Concrete from 83-90 and for ten years in the Florida Gulf Port Boomerangs Winter League. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spending time with his friends. He is survived by his siblings, John Barson, of Savannah, Violet (Roy) Bartholomew, of Carlisle, Oh, a sister-in-law Susan Barson, of South Amherst. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Anna (Streza) Barson, and his siblings Rose, Charles, George, and Eugene. Friends may call on Wednesday from 10:00 am until the time of services at 11:00 am at the Morman Funeral Home, 16 Cooper Street, Wakeman. Burial will follow at Wakeman Cemetery.
