David Scott

Mr. David Scott, 53, of Rocky River, OH passed away from cardiac arrest June 23, 2021. He was born December 31, 1967 in Painesville, OH. His family moved to LaGrange, Ohio when he was 11 years old because his dad took the position of pastor of the LaGrange Church of God. He was your typical preacher's kid. He attended Keystone High School and was a member of the football team. He also attended Lorain County JVS Auto Body Program.

He worked several years at MTD in Valley City before a source-out forced him to change careers. He decided to become a truck driver and got his start at Valley Transportation in Ashland, Ohio. He had also driven for Bowling Transportation in Fostoria, and recently for Estep Express in Mansfield. It was always a dream of his to own a business and he and his friend, Dave Selent, joined forces to start Double D Trucking, LLC in Amherst.

Dave's hobbies included fishing, watching movies, car shows, listening to Bluegrass music, and shooting guns. He also doodled house plans. He should have been an architect. He loved Texas Roadhouse rolls and Cracker Barrel. His greatest accomplishments were his two children. He loved them dearly and was very proud of them. Whenever he talked about them he beamed with joy.

David is survived by children, Marissa Kaitlynn Scott and David Elijah Scott; former wife and friend, Jennifer (Rinner) Scott; siblings, Dianne (Jim) White, Jim (Robin) Scott, and Daniel (Doris) Scott; nieces, Rachel Scott, Stephanie (Shawn) Halek, and Kyla Scott; nephews, Brandon Perry, Matthew White, and Christian Scott; as well as many cousins.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Scott, Jr. and Virginia (Parsons) Scott; and a brother he never got to meet, Ronald Lee Scott.

To honor Dave's final wishes, there will be no funeral services. The family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Dave's children are also accepting financial memorial gifts to help ease the costs of these sudden final arrangements and medical costs.

Dave's final act was to give the gift of life through organ, eye, and tissue donation by way of Lifebanc.

"Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest."

My condolences to the family of David Scott. I first met David in the late 1980’s when he and his father and mother came to Virginia to visit relatives and I was a friend of the relatives. It was later in the mid 90’s that his parents became pastors of the Rose Hill Church of God, which was the church I attended there in Virginia. My heart goes out to his children, his sister, and two brothers and the rest of the family. You will be remembered in my prayers.
