George Raymond Nealey, 63 of Berlin Heights died Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Firelands Hospital in Sandusky, Ohio. He was born September 5, 1958 in Michigan and has lived in the area since 1960. George, known to his friends as Ray, began his career working at Ford Motor Company, leaving after 12 years to begin working for the Federal Aviation Administration in 1989. Ray met his wife through dear friends, and they married in 1993. Ray had a passion for drag racing his entire life, loved watching and playing music and would often have jam sessions with close friends. He also loved to boat and was a snowmobile enthusiast, a love that he passed on to both his children. He was very proud of his daughter when her first job was as a boat driver at Camp Patmos. He spent years motocross racing with his son Carson and in his later years, passed on the drag racing torch for him to carry.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille Nealey. Ray is survived by his wife, Jean; his children, Paige and Carson of Berlin Heights; his sister Trina, of North Carolina; and his brother, Ronald (Sylvia) of Collins.
Friends may call on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 5:00PM to 8:00PM at Florence Church on 11801 State Route 113E, Berlin Heights. Church services will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 beginning at 11:00AM with Chaplain Mel Sayler officiating. Burial service will immediately follow.
