Jack Hawthorne was born August 14, 1953 in Pittsburgh, PA to Margaret Cecelia Lloyd and Jacob Edward Hawthorne, of Hagerstown, MD. He and his younger brother Eddy grew up in Lorain, Ohio. Jack attended Lorain High, Amherst High, and South Amherst High while staying with his beloved Aunt Shirley and Uncle John Blackburn.
He was a wonderful singer and cut an LP with the Saint Mary Choir Boys, Encore, directed by John S Meko. His many interests and accomplishments included fishing, single-handed sailing of his 40-foot O'Day sloop, The Raven, programming robots, riding motorcycles, eating lobster in Maine, painting, hunting, writing short stories, building and shooting muzzleloaders. Jack was a well-respected international aluminum casting expert in the foundry industry, working his way from molder to manager of Mansfield Brass and Aluminum Company, as well as trouble-shooting and growing sales for other firms. He joined the Marines during the Vietnam era and had many adventures along the way.
Jack is best unknown as the heroic Burt Reynolds-esque lead in the film "100 Moons" directed by Jim Cataldo. In recent years Jack has enjoyed rescuing dogs, cats, alpacas, and horses on his 15 acres in Berlin Heights. He thought about moving to Florida but was too young.
He is survived by his brother Eddy (Susie Q) of Denver, Colorado; his son Jack of Amherst, Ohio; nephew, Ian; niece, Quaintance; uncle and aunt, John and Shirley Blackburn and family of Florida; his wife, Diana; stepdaughters, Alejandra McCord, of Baltimore, MD and Meredith McCord, of Raleigh, NC; and Moochie and Saul Torres and other loving friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Margaret (Lloyd) Hawthorne.
