Obituary

Lois Marie Hilaman, 74, of Wakeman, OH passed away at her home February 7, 2021. She was born March 15, 1946 in Norwalk, OH and lived in Wakeman her entire life. She was a 1964 graduate of Western Reserve High School, and she was a lifetime member of the Wakeman Congregational United Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday School, helped with Bible School, planned and managed all the church banquets, helped with LOGAS, and the church birthday calendar, served on the Diaconate, Stewardship, and the Memorial and Arts Committees, and helped with the Caring Community project at the St. Mary’s Church. She was a member of the Wakeman Grange, was a volunteer teachers’ aid for the Western Reserve Elementary, and served on the scholarship committee at the high school and she was a 4-H advisor. She worked at the Wakeman Bank for approximately 20 years, and at the Lorain County Joint Vocational School for 30 years. 

Lois married her high school sweetheart, Terry Hilaman, on March 6, 1966, and she was the love of his life. In addition to her husband, Lois is survived by daughter, Michelle (Steve) Good, of Wakeman; son, Chris Hilaman, of Wakeman; five grandchildren, Briana and Izabelle Good, Cole, Carson, and Cora Hilaman; three sisters, Janet (Jim) Palm, of Orrville, OH, Jeanne (Joe) Milas, of Oberlin, Marcia (Dale) Merrill, of Wakeman; brother, Henry Dalton, of Wakeman; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
She was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Hilaman; and her parents, George and Mildred (Kuhl) Dalton. 

She was a friend to all, and never expected anything in return. She will always be remembered for her hard work, loving nature, and her generosity. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother.

Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday, February 12, 2021 at Wakeman Congregational Church, 14 Abbott Street, Wakeman. There will be one hour visitation prior to the services at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 13, 2021 also at Wakeman Congregational Church.
