Wilma Jean Kernell, 86, of Berlin Heights, OH passed away June 21, 2021. She was born July 12, 1934 in Florence, OH. She and her husband Dick resided in Berlin Heights, Ohio for over 60 years. Wilma Jean spent the last four years at the Carriage House in Norwalk.
Wilma Jean's passions included building a successful business from the ground up with her husband in Kernell's Automatic Machining, Inc. and spending twenty years in service on the Berlin Heights Village Council. Following retirement, Wilma Jean devoted much of her time to the United Church of Christ in Berlin Heights. Wilma Jean's favorite activities and interests consisted of traveling abroad with her husband, and also on mission trips, playing Bridge and slots with her friends, bird watching, and spending time with her family. Above all, whether it be for her spouse, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or friends, Wilma Jean Kernell was a loving and devoted caretaker that always put the needs of others before her own.
Wilma Jean is survived by her children Vicki (Gene) Seck and Jeff (Betty) Kernell; her grandchildren Erik (Kelsey) Kernell, Tessie (Kory) Martin, Jeremy (Julie) Seck, and Shana (Chris) Ceccoli; great-grandchildren Adalyn, William, Eli, Austyn, and Ashlyn Kernell, William, Luke, and Claire Ceccoli, and Charlie and Brady Seck, and another great-grandchild on the way; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wilma Jean was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Claude "Dick" Kernell, her parents Arthur and Iva (Green) Coultrip, brothers Lyle and Charles Coultrip, and sister Luella Tuttle.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, June 24 at Morman-Hinman-Tanner Funeral Home, 38 South Street, Berlin Heights. Services will be held Friday, June 25 at 11:00 AM at Berlin Heights First Congregational UCC, 5 E. Main Street, Berlin Heights. The service will be officiated by her great-nephew, Reverend Jared Littleton. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
